Water and Sanitation Development Project (WSDP) Supervision Mission Kick-off Meeting

The Principal Secretary for Water and Sanitation Julius Korir, CBS chaired the Water and Sanitation Development Project (WSDP) Supervision Mission Kick-off Meeting, marking an important milestone in the continued implementation of this transformative national programme. The development objective of the Project is to improve access to water supply and sanitation services in selected coastal and north-eastern regions, while also strengthening the financial performance of Water Service Providers (WSPs) that were adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Project is being implemented through a multi-agency framework involving Kwale, Kilifi, Mombasa, Taita Taveta, Garissa and Wajir Counties, their respective Water Service Providers, the Coast Water Works Development Agency, the Northern Water Works Development Agency, the Water Services Regulatory Board, and the Water Sector Trust Fund, with the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation serving as the Executing Agency. The PS was pleased to note that, out of a total of 48 works contracts, 22 contracts have been fully completed, and that the overall physical project progress stands at 84.1% as at 31st December 2025. He called upon the project team to work closely with all implementing agencies to fast-track the remaining works, address outstanding issues, and ensure timely completion so that communities can fully benefit from the investments made.
