Strengthening Water Resilience Across The Horn of Africa
The Principal Secretary for Water and Sanitation Julius Korir, CBS chaired the wrap-up meeting for the World Bank Supervision Mission of the Horn of Africa Groundwater Program for Resilience (HoAGW4R).
The Project has continued to make significant progress across all target counties. In Turkana and Marsabit, sites have already been handed over to contractors, marking a major step toward implementation. In Mandera and Wajir, the evaluation process has been completed, and WSTF is currently reviewing the evaluation reports. Meanwhile, in Garissa County, the project designs have been submitted and are now under review.
During the meeting, the PS called on all implementing agencies to work closely with county leadership, including Members of Parliament and National Administration officials, to ensure extensive public participation in the identification of project sites and to avoid duplication of projects.
This collaborative approach remains key to delivering sustainable and impactful water solutions for communities across the region. The implementing Agencies for the Program include Water Sector Trust Fund - WSTF, Water Resources Authority and Regional Centre on Groundwater Resources Training & Research.
